Director of Value-Based Quality & Regulatory Operations, Baylor Scott & White Health
Marisa serves as the Director of Value-Based Quality & Regulatory Operations of Baylor Scott & White Health (BSWH), the largest not-for-profit health care system in the state of Texas. In this role, she is responsible for staying abreast of regulatory matters that affect the measurement and reporting of BSWH performance metrics; collaborating with BSWH service lines, leaders, and clinicians to develop reporting initiatives; overseeing specified facility and system surveys; establishing measure documentation protocols; and monitoring the BSWH data reported by external entities. Ms. Valdes joined Baylor Health Care Systems in 2010 and has played a key role in establishing the foundational structure for the analytics teams.
Beyond her clinical work, Ms. Valdes also has an extensive background in the science of health care improvement and served as associate director of Performance Improvement at Parkland Health Care System in Dallas, overseeing the performance improvement teams and the public quality reporting programs.
Ms. Valdes is a graduate of the Intermountain Healthcare Advanced Training Program designed to offer a practical, in-depth course for health care professionals who need to teach, implement and investigate quality improvement, outcome measurement and management of both clinical and non-clinical processes. Marisa earned her Bachelor in Nursing Sciences at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan and her Masters in Nursing Science with a focus in Health Care Administration at Loyola University New Orleans School of Social Sciences.
