Baylor Scott & White Health (BSWH) in conjunction with the American Academy on Communication in Healthcare (AACH) is pleased to offer the Art of Communication: Relationship-Centered Communication Workshop. Effective communication plays a critical role in providing top quality patient care.
This 8-hr workshop will focus on practical skills to strengthen relationships as you engage with patients, families, and colleagues. Workshop activities will build on the strong clinical skills you already possess. Activities are designed for all levels of clinical experience.
This workshop is led by facilitators certified by the American Academy on Communication in Healthcare.
Course topics include:
- Building rapport
- Negotiating an agenda for an interaction
- Recognizing patient perspectives
- Eliciting the patient’s or colleague’s story
- Listening reflectively
- Responding with empathy
- Collaborating on a plan
This evidence-based workshop includes:
- Brief didactic sessions
- Interactive skills based training with practice
- Small group learning format
